There’s one reason we’re all here… At Brighton, we’re here for the kids.

Brighton Preschool’s New Scholarship Program: Making Early Education More Accessible

For many San Antonio families, finding the right preschool is only half the challenge. The other half? Affording it.

With the cost of child care in Texas now exceeding $10,000 per year—rivaling the cost of in-state college tuition—quality early education has become out of reach for too many working families. For married-couple households, child care consumes nearly 10% of income; for single-parent families, that number jumps to nearly 30%. Federal guidelines consider 7% affordable—meaning most families are paying two to four times what they should.

Bexar County is home to more than 132,000 children under the age of five, and 61% of them have parents in the workforce. These families need reliable, nurturing care so they can provide for their children. Yet for many, the math simply doesn’t work.

In San Antonio, more than one in four children under the age of five lives in poverty—making access to quality early learning even more critical.

State and federal assistance programs help some families, but thousands more earn just above the qualifying thresholds—too much to receive support, yet not enough to comfortably afford tuition. These families often face impossible choices: scale back work hours, patch together inconsistent care arrangements, or stretch budgets to the breaking point.

We’ve listened to these families. And we knew it was time to take action.

Brighton’s Response: Scholarships That Make a Difference

At Brighton, we believe every child deserves a strong start—regardless of their family’s financial circumstances. That’s why we created our new scholarship program—to help bridge the gap between what families can afford and what their children deserve.

Through this program, qualifying families may pay as little as $900 per month for tuition—compared to our standard rates of $1,350 for toddlers and preschoolers or $1,500 for infants.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all discount. Brighton’s scholarship program was designed to meet families where they are, recognizing that every household’s circumstances are different. Our goal is simple: remove financial barriers so more children can benefit from the inclusive, nurturing environment Brighton has offered San Antonio families for over 50 years.

More Than a Preschool—A Community

When you enroll your child at Brighton, they join a community where every child is known, valued, and celebrated for who they are.

Our classrooms bring together children with and without disabilities, learning side by side all day long. This isn’t inclusion as an afterthought—it’s the foundation of everything we do. Children build genuine friendships, develop empathy, and discover that everyone has unique strengths to contribute.

With a 1:6 teacher-to-child ratio, our educators provide individualized attention that supports each child’s intellectual, social, emotional, and developmental growth. Our Preschool Inclusion Team—made up of therapists, an Inclusion Coach, and our Inclusion Director—works alongside classroom teachers to ensure every child receives the support they need to thrive.

For over five decades, families have trusted Brighton to nurture their children’s potential, providing the right help at the right time, so every child and family can thrive. Our scholarship program extends that trust and mission to more families who believe, like we do, that quality early education should be within reach.

What This Means for Your Family

We know that choosing a preschool is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your child. We also know that finances play a real role in that decision.

Brighton’s scholarship program exists because we refuse to let cost be the reason a child misses out on the experiences that shape their future—the friendships formed during circle time, the confidence built through small victories, the joy of discovering new possibilities every day.

If you’ve been searching for a preschool that feels like family, where your child will be known by name and supported as an individual, we invite you to learn more about what Brighton can offer.
