Transition Classroom

Transition Classroom 2 – 3 Years Old

Our Transition Classroom is specifically designed as the essential bridge between toddler and preschool learning. Children in our transition class are ready to move beyond toddler routines but aren’t quite ready for full preschool expectations. We provide the perfect stepping stone, building foundational skills that prepare children for preschool success.

The perfect bridge from toddler to preschooler… we build the foundation for what’s next.

Where Big Kid Adventures Begin

Watch your child flourish as they master new milestones like sitting for story time, taking turns in conversations, and completing simple tasks independently. Our thoughtful approach nurtures both academic readiness and emotional growth, ensuring every child feels prepared and excited for their preschool journey.

What Makes Transition Different:

  • Foundational academic skills – introducing ABCs, numbers 1-10, and basic shapes (building blocks for preschool learning)
  • Basic communication – developing 2-4 word sentences to express wants and needs (preparing for preschool conversations)
  • Simple independence – following basic directions and cleaning up toys (readiness for preschool expectations)
  • Life skill beginnings – using open cups and family-style dining (preparation for preschool self-sufficiency)
  • Early social skills – first peer interactions and teacher conversations (foundation for preschool collaboration)

In the Brighton Transition Classroom, Children Will Master These Basics:

  1. Pre-academic foundations: Letter and number introduction, shape recognition, vocabulary building to 2-4 word sentences
  2. Independence foundations: Following simple directions, basic cleanup skills, and smooth transitions between activities
  3. Social foundations: First conversations with educators and peers, basic sharing, and turn-taking
  4. Physical foundations: Fine motor development through family-style dining and open cup use

Brighton’s Transition-Specific Support:

  • Preschool readiness focus – every skill builds toward preschool success
  • Gentle progression – moving at each child’s pace toward preschool expectations

Educators Who Specialize in This Unique Stage

Our transition educators understand that this age requires a completely different approach than both toddlers and preschoolers. They specialize in recognizing when children are ready to move beyond toddler activities but need support before tackling preschool challenges.

What Sets Our Transition Specialists Apart:

  • Transition expertise – specialized training in bridging toddler and preschool development
  • Foundation-building focus – skilled at teaching basic skills that preschool will expand
  • Readiness assessment – recognizing when children are prepared for preschool expectations
  • Collaborative support – working with Brighton’s therapy team to ensure developmental readiness

Staying Connected to Your Child's Transition Journey

Daily Schedule: Our transition schedule introduces more structure than toddler rooms while remaining simpler than preschool expectations. Children experience gentle routines that prepare them for the increased independence and schedule complexity they’ll encounter in preschool.

Transition-Specific Schedule Elements:

  • Basic routine introduction – more predictable than toddler schedules, less complex than preschool
  • Foundation skill time – focused periods for ABCs, numbers, and shapes
  • Independence practice – opportunities to follow directions and clean up
  • Social skill development – structured peer interactions preparing for preschool collaboration

Parent Communication:
We keep families informed about their child’s readiness progression and work together to determine when they’re prepared for the increased expectations of preschool.

Real Experience from Brighton Families

“The BEST daycare in San Antonio. My 2-year-old will run into his teacher’s loving arms every morning. Not only is the facility beautiful, but the classrooms are also filled with educational toys and engaging play areas. I love getting pictures of him playing with his friends all day. Each morning, I drop off my son, and I know he's going to have a day filled with fun and love. Grateful to have found this place for my son to learn and grow.”
-Marisol B., Brighton Parent
“Brighton was our first childcare experience, and honestly, it has set the bar so high for any other childcare for us. The teachers and staff are so caring and communicative. We sadly had to move to a different state, but my hardest goodbye was definitely Brighton. Our son was in the transition classroom and had the absolute best teachers. My son would leave my arms to go to Ms. Raeny. He absolutely loved it at Brighton. We miss it so much already!”
-Adara E., Brighton Parent
